420 AIRMARKS

4-20 Airmarks (2021) is a wind-activated kinetic sculpture. Painted with figurative symbols, the work transforms images into ever-changing chromatic abstractions, engaging with the environment under unpredictable weather conditions. In doing so, it rejects the idea of the artwork as a fixed object or end in itself, instead emphasizing lived experience and the creation of ephemeral situations and actions.

As part of an ongoing exploration of the relationship between subject and environment, 4-20 Airmarks (2021) is a kinetic sculpture powered by wind, designed to actively engage with atmospheric elements. The entire structure is painted, guiding the viewer’s gaze toward the wind turbine, which features a series of figurative and graphic elements drawn from the artist’s symbolic alphabet. These images, initially clear and recognizable, become blurred and abstracted as the rotor spins, dissolving into pure color and generating a visual effect that constantly diverges from the original design. The painted message thus appears only under certain weather conditions, interacting with its surroundings solely in specific, uncontrollable moments. The work undergoes constant renewal, rejecting the notion of the artwork as a static object or final product. Instead, it foregrounds the importance of lived experience and the creation of ephemeral actions and situations.
