OGNUNO È BANDIERA
Ognuno è Bandiera (2024) is a workshop and site-specific installation by artist Oliviero Fiorenzi, created for Dynamo Camp in collaboration with Majotech. The suspended structure holds twenty multicolored flags made by Dynamo Camp families. Traditionally a symbol of national belonging, the flag is reinterpreted as a collage of shapes and colors preserving the participants’ most cherished childhood memories, creating an individual mythology. The result is a kaleidoscope of personal stories, a celebration of uniqueness and the richness of diversity.

0.0 + 0.1
0.0 + 0.1 is a site-specific installation created for Lunetta11 and conceived as a large thaumatrope: a vertical rectangular surface featuring a central moving element activated by the wind, which captures the viewer’s attention. The work explores the relationship between humans and nature, between balance and conflict, harmony and fragility. Through movement and its environmental context, it conveys a message that encourages reflection on the interaction between the artwork, the landscape, and its transformations.

SLEEPING WITH A TIGER
Sleeping with a Tiger is a group exhibition at K-Gold Temporary Gallery in Lesvos, Greece, curated by Nicolas Vamvouklis. It explores the relationships between humans and animals through the lenses of coexistence, dominance, and symbiosis. Inspired by Maria Lassnig’s painting of the same name, the exhibition investigates interspecies connections through history, politics, and tradition, highlighting how our languages and behaviors shape the perception of animals. Featuring works by artists such as Ana Mendieta, Oliviero Fiorenzi, Cosima von Bonin, and many others, the show invites us to rethink our role in the natural world and to envision a symbiotic future.

MEMORY SPIN
MEMORY SPIN by Oliviero Fiorenzi is a site-specific installation that uses play to challenge the conventions of contemporary art. Through the rotation of a propeller and optical illusions, the work evokes “vertigo,” encouraging the audience toward active and critical interaction against cultural homogeneity.

GIANT KITE
GIANT KITE (2024) is a project by Oliviero Fiorenzi, curated by Matilde Galletti, involving the community of District 8 – Pozzo Alto – Borgo Santa Maria in Pesaro. Inspired by the Japanese ‘Hamamatsu Kite Festival’, it led to the creation of a large kite as a symbol of presence and identity, culminating in a collective flying performance. The initiative is part of the program “From Sculptures in Cities to Art for Communities,” curated by Marcello Smarrelli, for Pesaro Capital of Culture 2024.

420 AIRMARKS
4-20 Airmarks (2021) is a wind-activated kinetic sculpture. Painted with figurative symbols, the work transforms images into ever-changing chromatic abstractions, engaging with the environment under unpredictable weather conditions. In doing so, it rejects the idea of the artwork as a fixed object or end in itself, instead emphasizing lived experience and the creation of ephemeral situations and actions.

MEDA
CAMPANA (2022) is the kinetic sculpture created by the Marche artist Oliviero Fiorenzi as part of Workshop #2 Sea, the 2nd edition of TRAC - Tresoldi Academy held in June 2021 at Cantiere delle Marche. The workshop involved 15 students engaged in the creation of the MEDA installation under the artistic direction of Edoardo Tresoldi in collaboration with Fiorenzi. CAMPANA (2022) is a kinetic sculpture conceived as a visual landmark. Made with 12 chromed blades that reflect light and move with the wind, the work reinterprets the concept of a maritime lighthouse. Inspired by the drawings of a child exploring the cardinal points, it represents a new dreamlike orientation for the sea of Ancona, merging art, landscape, and natural phenomena.

ANTI CAMOUFLAGE
ANTICAMMOUFLAGE (2018) is an artistic intervention created at the Powder Magazine of Ceriano-Solaro, in the Groane Park. The work "dresses" abandoned military watchtowers with hand-painted fabrics, using patterns inspired by nature but rendered in contrasting colors, making these overgrown structures visible again and revealing the site’s collective memory.

S S P
S/S/P is a two-person exhibition by Roberto Alfano and Oliviero Fiorenzi held at The Address gallery in Brescia. The exhibition explores the relationship between signs, landscape, and the imagery of the province through practices intertwining painting, memory, and visual language.

CASA DEL VENTO
Casa del Vento by Oliviero Fiorenzi is a site-specific sculpture that explores the relationship between humans and nature, reflecting on the concept of home as intimacy and the windmill as a symbol of sustenance. Made from recycled materials, the work uses wind to power an internal light, evoking a dialogue between natural energy and human life within an urban context.
Casa del Vento examines the fragile bond with nature—ever more distant in city life. Placed in a metropolitan setting, it evokes a time when the relationship between people and the natural world was direct and vital, creating a visual oxymoron that recalls a synergy now largely lost.

CRASH TEST
CRASH TEST is a duo exhibition by Oliviero Fiorenzi and Yoan Mudry, presented at Sonnenstube Offspace in Lugano. This site-specific intervention transforms the former Morel garage into an immersive performance, where sound, architecture, and artworks merge into an experience that breaks traditional exhibition formats, creating a multisensory journey through space.

HARI
H.A.R.I. (2023) is a collaboration between artists Oliviero Fiorenzi and Fabrizio Vatieri, with performer Francesca Flora, exploring the concept of greenwashing through an immersive performance. The work revolves around the character Hari, inspired by Stanisław Lem’s novel Solaris, and features a series of green and black panels reinterpreting symbols of often misleading environmental certifications. The ambiguity of greenwashing is questioned, provoking reflection on artistic activism: is it truly possible to change anything within a system that continuously deceives? The artists, aware of the difficulties and contradictions in the art context, face this challenge with enthusiasm, seeking moments of authentic communion without personal expectations.

AURATICA
Auratica (2022) is an installation born from the harmonious composition of a series of suspended sculptural works, both pictorial and sonic in nature. Each piece consists of a hand-painted silk chiffon sail and a tubular bell, each with a unique shape and sound.
The title, derived from the root aura (breath, air), evokes the spatial and spiritual dimensions of the work, with breath symbolizing life and the connection between body and soul.
The bond between the physical and spiritual realms is embodied in the sound, which accompanies the movement of the sails, marking a private and collective ritual - a message of love and prayer expressed through abstract painting and sculpture.

EVERY ISLAND HAS A NAME
Under the artistic direction of Oliviero Fiorenzi, the exhibition Every Island Has A Name is a multisensory experience where artistic gesture, soundscapes, and video works converge. Presented by ARC’TERYX, HILLTON & Spazio Maiocchi, the show challenges the boundaries and possibilities of the white cube. Each environment draws from different elements of the video narrative, fostering an interactive dialogue between art, live music, and visual performance.

OPEN SIGN
OPEN SIGNS (2020) is a site-specific project by Oliviero Fiorenzi created during an artist residency at the Mole Vanvitelliana. Through a daily routine of exploring the neighborhood, the artist collected symbols, signs, and urban memories, translating them into a mural painting displayed in the courtyard of the Mole. The project, which explores the dialogue between inside and outside, was presented on September 24, 2020, accompanied by a discussion curated by Elvira Vannini and Alessio Piancone.

DON'T FOLLOW ME
The operation was born during a workshop held by Jeroen Jongeleen at the Willem de
Kooning Academie of Rotterdam. The aim of course of Critical Studies was to hack a code. Received the brief I decided to work outside, in the city of Rotterdam. The idea of my project was to delegate an extremely illegal action like hacking the traffic laws to a randomic and chaotic element like the wind.

MOVIN SIGN
In Moving Sign, Oliviero Fiorenzi transforms a small boat with a painted sail into a mobile maritime signal, exploring themes of visibility, curiosity, and mutual gaze. The optical design of the sail, inspired by the “Dazzle Camouflage” used on warships during World War I, attracts and confuses the viewer. Navigating daily along the coast of Marzocca, the artist becomes both observer and observed, blending into the landscape. The process, documented through photographs and paintings, was created for the MarzoccaReLab residency and presented at the 12th edition of Demanio Marittimo KM-278.
